report: freedom of speech in the Bundestag

"poor but sexy" is the slogan of the secret capital of Berlin, who certainly proved true. A must of course, was the Bundestag, which I originally produced with a relatively provocative T-shirt, which (bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity) the words "Bombing for Freedom is like Fucking for Virignity" was, wanted to visit. But unfortunately it was in the attempt, because when I was going to catch the metal detector and baggage check my bag back at me, saw the inspector my top. I was then instructed to wait while they got to two cabinets from the Security.
After I had translated my message, I asked one of the cabinets if I had something to coat it. As I said no, was the proposal to turn my t-shirt. When I referred to my speech, I was angeblafft that this is still in the Bundestag extremely inappropriate. Aha. Freedom of expression, which is an essential part of our democracy is in the house of the legislature wanted. Guarded by a nurse in a stairwell so I could turn my T-shirt, so the writing was inside.
After a detour to the public gallery, I had a conversation with Michael Leutert (Left), nor the opportunity to actually dig deeper with respect to this incident. According Leutert, this was not an isolated case, on the contrary, random visitors would always point out their opinion but to give something subtle expression. And, although this was not part of the house rules.
A type of relief came over me when I was finally able to turn back when they leave my T-shirt again. Here's to freedom of expression!

The Guantanamo Experiment

The concept of medieval torture pictures lawn equipment such as the Bank expanded through our head. In terms of today we think of serious bodily injury that leads to death, carried out against innocent civilians by terrorists or rogue states. Fortunately, now, at least in part, became widely known that these old patterns were broken long ago. The prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba turned to terror suspects, "enhanced interrogation methods" on. About 500 prisoners, young people like older people are treated and respecting human never tortured. Some have been detained since the opening in 2002, fair courts, or at least a Lawyers are not allowed.

To gain a better understanding of the precise conditions of life and just to make these interrogation methods, the one-hour documentary "The Guantanamo Experiment" shot in the 7 British volunteer hours in a 48 simulation based on a U.S. military manuals and declassified documents of the Government participate. Among them are three Muslims, but also proponents of this strategy. When the guards are former U.S. military interrogators who are familiar with such methods. The legal (or should I say legalized?) Forms of sensory deprivation, religious insult, humiliation and light physical injury will include displayed realistically, but also much brutality and nudity. On Youtube, the documentary is recommended after the age of 16.

Summum summarum it is an hour of stress such as education, an honest and terrifying hour, not for the faint hearted.

The last article

Now it is well done! My last article on this blog and it was then this is it 1.5 years ago that I opened this and since were on the way 10.000Leute go here. THANK YOU!

22.325km I have in the past 2 months down on my trip across North America back and it was fantastic! Yesterday afternoon, I landed safe and sound in well-Vancouver. I think I've slept in the same hostel room as on my first day in Canada. The last day was full again. So still had some errands to be done and in the evening I met with John Hannah and a farewell beer. And now I'm sitting here at the airport ...

How am I going? Shit! At least now I realize that my year is over. 363 days have gone by very fast and while I'm typing so hard to me to be back, again just rolled all the wonderful memories of the year. And that feeling makes me just really sad. Of course I am also looking forward to going home. The last 2 months "Travel" I have made but somehow tired. If you never longer than 5 days is still in one place all the time and had to live from his backpack, but very welcome awaits you on his bed, his family, his friends! Once again have that sense of abandon. Is not to ask: How are you next? Where do I sleep? How much money I can for food Output? Where do I apply for a job?
also once again to have people around to get where you do not have to say after a certain period of time and never seen again. If you had met the greatest people and say goodbye then again they had, it was not always easy for me. Sure, I'll see some recovery but some never ...

And yet I will miss it all here, very much. On 24.6.2009 then started my "Work & Travel" adventure. Already curious how this came to pass. After my withdrawal, I stood there and did not know what to do. I wanted to study yet, so I wanted to use the opportunity to spend a year abroad. As my father once threw "Work & Travel" field. At first I thought it was crazy but by reading a blog grew slowly my enthusiasm ...

But what is "Work & Travel" at all? On the surface it is for a period of time in another country where it can rumreisen and work. But there is much more to it. You are on a journey of discovery. You discover another culture, another language and, above all, you find yourself Who are you? How do you get it to be put right at once completely on your own? Exactly this kind of challenge I was looking for! I was with the aim of coming here, that my English is better and I myself also change. Talkative and become more open. Just to put the shyness. Now is my year around and I can at least see that my English has improved. It is not a top level but it is enough to communicate. Sure you build still a grammatical error but the threshold to become not worry about is definitely overcome.

Did I myself also changed? I am not great. Am I still think the quiet and serene type. Simply Hannah. But the year also left its mark. My personality comes out stronger from this time and so I have now a realistic View of the world, on my opportunities. Know what works and know how to achieve it.

Overall, in the time man Hannah made quite nicely on the test. There were high points and low points. A wave of emotions I had experienced especially at the beginning. If you have to see how your two buddies in Banff had already a job and you even still had no answer, then it was very depressing. They had it but be easier. To this was then that one of the people missing at home. While the day could not suppress this feeling, then ate up at night on your dreams. But went with the first job it steeply uphill. I lived a me and took a liking to this "new life". Being independent and doing what you wanted to get to know new people, seeing the world - that was cool! Highly motivated, I left Banff and what followed was a month with no plan and no fixed goal. I wandered around and never really knew what I wanted. Even my bank account emptied more. Goofy ran that it had not worked out at the end of NEM job in the ski resort. But I grieve for the thing not because I landed it in Victoria and in January / February, the hottest time besides the last two months had. This substitute family that had there was fantastic. We really had a lot of fun. I then turned my life around completely. I knew that if in the end I still want to see what of North America, then I should cook on low flame. And I did it successfully. Then by the March jobs, I myself a decent little sum for my trip to cover. And then the year was over! Probably it will take has yet to realize I am what I have experienced in the last year ...

And now it's all over. Gone! Off! End! Although my year has gone completely different, as I had imagined myself, I am totally happy with it. It was a great time I had and I will remember like to turn back. The more than 5000 images will help me in the process. If me someone ask if I had at some time regretted the decision, then I can only tell him: NOT A SECOND. It was the right decision for me. It was fun. It was exciting, great, great ONCE! Thank you Canada, and now it's time to make deadline, for now begins the boarding and thus a new life. Let's go! I'm ready!

Here I would like to thank especially my parents and my family, who made this possible. Many thanks also to my friends who had not forgotten me and thank you to all the great people I know have learned on my adventure. Also a big thank you to all blog readers - Be they known or unknown to me - and the hard-working writers comment. I hope that I could show you at least a little of what I have experienced here.

And now it's probably the last time:

Organ Sale Pro And Con

New York City and Boston

My penultimate article ... Arrived

in New York I would have deserved an award for almost absolute stupidity. Without Hostel reservations in the summer to New York is to drive a game with fire. Fortunately, I'm not your fingers burned, and finally found another place to live in Brooklyn. In the evening I made a date yet clear with my personal guide from Brazil. JP I learned in Banff and know he was already several times in New York, we joined together with us and he showed me the main attractions of the city.
After the stress the day before I came on the first day and feel better cope with the subway system. Crazy what's going on under the ground. The people here are so hectic and in the city, the cars are only on the horn. I could never live here but I found it very interesting time to have seen everything.
The first day I met my guide at half past 11 and a short business visit to East Harlem (Ghetto) concerned about Wall Street.

further led us the way to Ground Zero. Unbelievable, what happened here must be 9 years ago.
Then we moved to the Ferry Terminal and took the free ferry to Staten Island, which passes by the Statue of Liberty.
was refreshed by the wind it on to the Brooklyn Bridge and then to Times Sqaure. This is absolutely yes once all hell broke loose. So many people in one place ... INSANITY
Day 2 began with the defeat of Germany. But as soon as I had got rid of all my postcards and the sun shone in full force, had improved my mood again. The morning we spent this time in the Metropolitan Museum. 2 floors is from the Egyptian to contemporary art all represented. The highlight was of course held Picasso exhibition. The rest of the afternoon we spent in Central Park
way from the stress and down to the meadow, we set here a little nap before the evening is the "Top of the Rock was . The view from up there was fantastic and you got a great impression how big is New York. For 2 hours we enjoyed the spectacle of severed until then ...
Now there were only one more thing, I had to do. Before I had left, I promised Sophie to visit her in Boston. This promise I held a course for 2 days and went to her. It was very nice to see once again a familiar face, and so we started on Sunday a nice day with lots of chat, eat ice cream and watching movies. Unfortunately, the short time went much too fast and you had to separate again on Monday morning, I had to return to Vancouver.

Montréal

...
When I arrived early in Montreal, I was greeted by the pouring rain. "Super", I thought. Since you only have 2 days for one of the most Canadian cities, and then something like that. My hostel was right next to the Greyhound station. Thanks for the recommendation, Stefan! In my year, I've seen many hostels and this was definitely one of the best. Clean, modern and very nice people! After I checked in with the Lord took from Frontdesk good 10 minutes to explain to me what could I do in the next 2 days, nice.
So I pulled on my rain jacket and made my way to the "Old Montreal". Montreal is the Canadian province of Quebec. The city is bilingual - speak English or French! Since there is now 1 year (Okay, actually 3 ^ ^) ago, I spoke French, I preferred the English language. It would simply take too long until I had cobbled together a sentence in French: D
the rain softened slowly and by the old streets of the city pulling, I finally put a stop at the Basilique Notre-Dame.

particularly impressive, I found it made of wood decorated chapel and the altar. Since then I had enough of the rain, I went back to the hostel and watching the last World Cup match of the day.
To my great surprise, the sky cleared in time, so I went again in the late afternoon on the streets. This time it was on the campus of the Mont Royal (Mount Royal). From here I had a fantastic view of downtown Montreal.
The next day it said the weather was good with me and the sun shine. After breakfast I went straight to the subway to go to the Olympic Park. There I made a tour of the Biodome. From the tropics to the Arctic, the different vegetation zones of North America were represented. Here, they found typical animals from each of the respective zone. Then I was drawn more to the Olympique Tower and the Olympic Stadium of 1976.
Again, I entered a short stop at the hostel before I evening then to L'Oratoire Saint-Joseph went.
Unfortunately, there were no more tours, which meant that I sat on the stairs and above the weather and enjoyed the view.

The night ended finally with a club visit. Despite jamming esterification I made it early at 7:30 clock my bus to New York to catch ... CONTINUED!

Niagara Falls and Ottawa

is with great pleasure that I convey the message that I have today sent my 22 postcards. It would now get almost every one who had then given his address. Unless I'm very sorry that I had forgotten the person!

Furthermore, I can count my remaining days already on one hand. Since I am willing to publish the last article before my departure on this blog, there are now almost every day to read that again. So it pays to look back often =).

...

From Toronto it took about 2 hours until we reached the town of Niagara Falls. After we had checked all 4 in the hostel, we headed straight to the road to the natural spectacle. I had not previously great information about the place and I was quite surprised to see what got my eyes - small Las Vegas.

It felt like at a fairground. Everything glowed in different colors and you found a big wheel, casinos and other attractions!
As a tourist you do of course the famous "Maid of the Mist tour. This one gets a sexy raincoat slipped over to blue and then drives half an hour along the Niagara Falls.
Very impressive, like so much water mass falls down the mountain. To Fortunately the sun was intense and so gave us a free shower from nothing. Also, I was well prepared with my towel on it, the hair to dry as quickly as possible. Many thanks to the three ladies for the gift:)
went after a short hike and a good supper in the evening it then to the fireworks over the falls. I missed this the background music so it was unfortunately only BOOM BOOM and a few bright colors. The local crowd promptly disappeared again and with a few small steps on my camera, I could then create this shot of the illuminated waterfalls.

The next day, Jonathan and I were adopted at the girls and we were on the 9 hours away in Ottawa, the Canadian capital. Without a plan and orientation, we found it relatively easy to find place to sleep - the jail of Ottawa. Or rather the old prison. Here are in fact the HI hostel, and it's pretty funny if you are allowed to sleep in cell 2.
The next day we stood only for the morning city tour available. When popping heat, we strolled along and then the parliament building were running through the streets Ottawa. Püntklich the impetus of the German World Cup game, we then took place in a bar and cheer the deserved 4-0 success.

the evening, then parted our ways. I slept a night in jail again, to drive the next morning to Montreal ... CONTINUED.

is with great pleasure that I convey the message that I have today sent my 22 postcards.
